Lost Elephant
For the bikepacking and adventure cycling enthusiasts, The Lost Elephant is the East Kootenay’s premier event. From rugged single track to stunninging vistas, you’ll get an excellent sample of the area’s best gravel and adventure riding. With two distances (the Dumbo and Jumbo), there is something for everyone up for the challenge of lining up at the annual grand depart in Cranbrook. The Lost Elephant’s name pays homage to the tale of a herd of circus elephants that escaped from their enclosures in Cranbrook in the 1920’s, with one staying on the run for 6 weeks!
Cranbrook Gravel Grind
Need an introduction to the world of East Kootenay gravel riding? The Cranbrook Gravel Grind is just the ticket. With two distances departing from Cranbrook, the Cranbrook Gravel Grind rambles through the Chief Isadore Trail before venturing onto the forestry roads of the Cranbrook South Country. A part of the Anything Goes Event Series, the Cranbrook Gravel Grind is the East Kootenay’s premier gravel riding event.

Flannel Fest
Flannel Fest is Kimberley’s classic small town annual winter festival. A variety of winter and outdoor themed events are spread throughout the town during the festival, but our favourites are the fat bike poker ride and fat bike enduro. A great way to meet winter riders in town and enjoy some of Kimberley’s pristine winter grooming, the fat bike poker ride is one to take at your own pace. For those wanting to push their fat biking skills and feel the speed on groomed trails, the fat bike enduro is right up your alley. Registration details on the Flannel Fest Facebook page.
Wasa Lake Triathlon
Hosted annually in beautiful Wasa Lake Provincial Park, the Wasa Lake Triathlon has both Sprint and Olympic distances for those just getting into triathlon and seasoned veterans alike. Not feeling up for all 3 sports? Check out the relay events! Is your grom wanting some multi-sport action? The TriKids Triathlon event is a fantastic introduction into the sport.

Except to be challenged, and to end the day with a smile on your face and beer in hand!
BC Epic 1000
The BC Epic 1000 is a popular ultra distance cycling route that passes through Kimberley as it traverses British Columbia. Merritt to Fernie, and primarily on decommissioned railways, the BC Epic 1000 can be tackled as a solo endeavour or join the group at the grand depart every spring in Merritt.
